About Truro Treasures

Truro Treasures began in 1992 when several community members, most notably Betty Groom and Boo Houstoun, envisioned a fall weekend for children and adults to raise money to help save the Highland Lighthouse, and to promote community pride and interest in Truro.  As a result, a non-profit organization, Truro Treasures, was created to sponsor the event. Since then, Truro Treasures has evolved and expanded into an annual fall weekend event that is crammed full of activities.

This year's theme is "Nature’s Wonders". The weekend begins on Friday with an historical talk in the afternoon and an evening cocktail party, followed by Saturday and Sunday activities including a pancake breakfast, Historical Society program, arts & crafts show, flea market, kids events, antique appraisals, silent art auction, Saturday evening dinner, 5k run/walk, golf tournament, Highland Center tour, Affordable Housing home tour, antique and classic car show, adult treasure hunt, our closing event, the grape stomp and jazz festival, and much more!

The Mission of
Truro Treasures is to sponsor a weekend of fun for the entire town of Truro that builds community spirit.  Many events are free and when funds are raised they are given back to various local non-profit organizations.  2009 grant awards were made to: Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary (Orleans Branch), Friends of Truro Pre-School, Friends of Truro COA, Highland Affordable Housing, Highland Museum, Highland Lighthouse Santa, Mass Appeal, Truro Central School 6th Grade Trip, Truro Tercentennial Committee, Truro Council on Aging, Truro Concert Committee, and Truro Historical Society.

This year's Truro Treasures is dedicated
to Truro’s Volunteers.

To everyone who unselfishly gives of their time
to help Truro, we say thank you!

Join us in celebrating them!

Many THANKS to all the volunteers, businesses and
organizations that helped, in some way, to make
our 2009 weekend such a great success!!

Please see our Thanks Page for a complete list.
